3. In the interests of finishing on time, I have decided to challenge myself to write the whole reel TW in scenes of increasing wordcount. So far it breaks down like this:

Prologue- 200 words
Scene 1- 300 words
Scene 2- 400 words

--and so on until I get to 900 words in the last scene, and then the Epilogue is 200 words.

It's been horribly vacillating between funny funny jokes about the movie Jaws (Jack thinks it's funny, they take a boat out called the Shamu. Ianto is not amused) and horrible depictions of people getting slaughtered. I think I might have even used the phrase "meat strippets". I don't know what they are, but I can describe them. I think I like the word "strippets". And if the meat strippets are cooked, the are then termed, "meat scribbles".

My search-fu has apparently been low lately. While responding to this request for stories about cloned characters, I remembered a story that I can't seem to find anywhere.

In the story, the team is trying to figure out which one of them has been duplicated by an alien shapeshifter. As I recall, Ianto comes up from the archives in the middle of the situation, and is the prime suspect for a while until he convinces the rest that he isn't the duplicate, or that there's not enough evidence yet, or possibly convinces them that someone else is the duplicate. The implication in the story is that the duplicated team member was killed by the alien. I believe that they did eventually decide who the clone was (Tosh?), but I think the end was rather ambiguous as to whether the accused was actually the clone or not.

So I was reading an article, which reminded me of a fic I once read. Only now I can't remember what this fic was. This is where you guys come in and save my bacon.
From what I can remember, in the fic Ianto was being controlled by some aliens, who made Jack think that Ianto was cheating on him. At one stage Jack says something about the stupidity of love (?). There was also something about an alien war, but that could be from another fic.
I know I'm vague, but is this ringing any bells for anyone?

Was it ever established what the lyric "I can't rate-rape myself" in "If You Love a Woman" means?

I'd always assumed it was a linguistic idiosyncrasy on Carl's behalf but I was listening to Mumford & Sons' "Little Lion Man" and it contains the lyric,

"Rate yourself and rape yourself,
take all the courage you have left"

Is it therefore an actual English idiom???

ETA: A kind person on Youtube has informed me that it means "to judge oneself whilst being overly critical."

I was just thinking of a fic that I read a while back but I don't think I saved it. I searched around for it but it might be under a larger master list and I can't find it. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was part of a series. It started with Jack, Owen and Ianto going to a bar where they were hassled by some homophobes (I think)and then Ianto was taken by the men and held captive...
